Panic! At The Disco “Miss Jackson” – The Song of the Week for 8/12/2013

Released on July 15, 2013 via Fueled By Ramen, “Miss Jackson” is the official 1st single off of Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, the 4th studio album by Panic! At The Disco

Genre: Alternative Rock, Pop Punk, Baroque Pop

We all remember the hit song “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” on that debut album which ended up selling over 2 million copies back in 2005. It was pretty damn good. Then the 2nd album came out and it was pretty odd (indeed!). Fast forward through band members leaving and a less than stellar 3rd album (and the band adding the ‘!’ back in Panic!) and now we have an upcoming 4th album with a pretty catchy lead single in “Miss Jackson”. It is almost as if the band really liked what Fall Out Boy was planning on doing with their comeback album: mixing pop-punk with, well, pop. Does that give us pop-pop-punk? Is that even possible?

I don’t know what the rest of the album is going to sound like or even if it will be any good (or even if I will give it a listen on Spotify) but for now, “Miss Jackson” is the Song of the Week.

Let me know what you are thinking about it in the comments section or tweeta tweet tweet at me @MusicTrajectory.

“You put a sour little flavor in my mouth now
You move in circles hoping no one’s gonna find out
But we’re so lucky,
Kiss the ring and let ’em bow down
Looking for the time of your life

A pretty picture but the scenery is so loud,
A face like heaven catching lighting in your nightgown,
But back away from the water, babe, you might drown-
The party isn’t over tonight”
